My beloved country is Bangladesh. It is a small land, but its beauty is big. Rivers like the Padma and the Meghna flow through it, and green paddy fields, hills, forests and the longest sea beach add to its charm. It has six seasons, and each of them has its own beauty.
Our history is proud. In 1952, we gave our lives for our mother tongue, and in 1971, after a nine-month war, we won our independence under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Our culture is rich in folk songs, festivals like Pahela Baishakh and handicrafts such as nakshi kantha.
The people of Bangladesh are hardworking and hospitable. They are famous for their courage in facing floods and cyclones.

The poet says, ‘Where is such a country, which has no equal on the earth?’ Every Bengali heart answers: it is my own land. Bangladesh may be a small country in size, but it is vast in love, beauty and history.
Nature has been generous. The delta formed by the Ganges, the Brahmaputra and the Meghna gives us fertile soil and countless rivers. The Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, shelters the Royal Bengal Tiger, and the long beach of Cox’s Bazar, the tea gardens of Sylhet and the hills of Bandarban show variety in a small area. The six seasons paint the landscape in changing colours.
Our history is written in blood and courage. The Language Movement of 1952 and the Liberation War of 1971 are the proudest chapters, in which millions made sacrifices for freedom. Our culture lives in Baul songs, Jamdani, pitha and the festivals of every religion held in harmony.
The country, however, faces problems: poverty, corruption, population pressure and the shadow of climate change. Yet its people, famous for resilience, rebuild after every flood and cyclone.
To love a country is to serve it. As a student, I shall study with sincerity, obey the law, protect public property and help the poor. Whatever I become, I shall never forget that this soil has given me all that I have.
